This course will provide students with the opportunity to learn in depth about Latin America using Freestyle’s engaging and innovative methodology. Previously learned grammar concepts like the use of the preterite vs the imperfect, and the past and present subjunctive mood will come alive through comprehensive reading and listening activities, videos, art analyses, social networks, mass media, and class discussions. After taking this class, you will be able to discuss complex subjects as well as sustain an argument in Spanish. The in-class presentations will give you the practice and exposure you need to get your spoken Spanish to the next level! Unit topics include: the role of indigenous peoples in Latin American identity; nationalism and regional integration; art and the interpretation of reality; and religious syncretism.
